Rishi Matanga wanted to give the healthy welcome to arrived saint as per the ritual but rishi’s said that first we will have bath in Ganga and then we would receive the welcome and food. But there was no mighty Ganga but Mother Narmada was flowing around. But Matanga rishi by his meditative powers called mother Ganga who appeared here. Mother Narmada flows in western direction but here where the Gangeshwara Mahadev rests in the middle of the Narmada River the stream of Narmada are eastwards with heavy flow which marked the arrival of the Ganges here.
